When I arrived on scene, I saw exactly what you see behind me – a crane overturned, into the steel bones of this building.”Fire officials said the operator of the crane was not injured but visibly shaken up and taken to a hospital for treatment. The work site remained sealed off for...

Celebrating Spring!

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 03:33:23 GMT

Spring officially started yesterday evening, today was the first full day of spring and Mother Nature is celebrating! Temperatures today ran about 10° above average in the upper 50s with a few towns even hitting 60°. Our west wind was breezy again today but that, combined with the sun, is the reason we hit these numbers today. The wind had more of a southwest direction across our southern spots which is why we had a slight sea breeze on the Cape today and held temperatures in the lower 50s.Tomorrow will be mild again but more of us will fall victim to the sea breeze. Notice the wind tomorrow is no longer from the west, it’s from the southeast. That will cool temperatures for everyone on the coast, not just the Cape. Temperatures tomorrow will still range from 50° – 60° with the coolest numbers on the coast and warmer numbers inland.Tomorrow is also our last 6pm sunset! Starting Thursday our sunsets will be 7pm or later! The sun will not set before 7pm again until Septemb...

(CNN) — Doctors across the United States who treat people with advanced prostate cancer can’t find supplies of a medicine that may help them live longer.Pluvicto, a drug to treat metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer, also known as mCRPC, is in such short supply that its maker, Novartis, said it cannot allow further supply to new patients until it can produce more of the drug. By STAN CHOE and ALEX VEIGA (AP Business Writers)NEW YORK (AP) — Stocks rallied Tuesday, led by the banks most beaten down by the industry’s crisis, and some of Wall Street’s fear washed out on hopes the U.S. government will offer more help if needed. The S&P 500 jumped 1.3% to lock in its first back-to-back gain since Silicon Valley Bank’s quicksilver failure began two weeks ago. The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 316 points, or 1%, while the Nasdaq composite jumped 1.6%. Markets around the world have pinballed sharply this month on worries the banking system may be cracking under the pressure of the fastest set of hikes to interest rates in decades. This week’s rally now runs into a huge test: On Wednesday afternoon, the Federal Reserve will announce what’s largely expected to be its latest increase to rates. Tuesday’s strength for stocks came after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen told a bankers’ group more government assista...

A Virginia man who assaulted police with a stolen baton and used a flashing strobe light to disorient officers trying to defend the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021 was sentenced Tuesday to more than four years in prison. Geoffrey Sills of Mechanicsville, Virginia, was convicted of assault with a dangerous weapon, obstruction of Congress and robbery for his role in the violence at the Capitol’s Lower West Terrace tunnel, where police were beaten and crushed as as they tried to beat back the angry mob of President Donald Trump supporters. The 31-year-old has already served a year and a half behind bars since his June 2021 arrest. In a separate case on Tuesday, a judge declared a mistrial after jurors failed to reach an agreement on whether a man described as the Oath Keepers “operations leader” for Jan. 6 was guilty of obstruction. Michael Greene was acquitted of all other felony charges on Monday, but convicted of a misdemeanor offense. Greene is the only defendant in three trials...
