PITTSBURGH (AP) — T.J. Watt scooped up a fumble by DeShaun Watson and ran 17 yards for the go-ahead touchdown midway through the fourth quarter, and the Pittsburgh Steelers beat the Cleveland Browns 26-22 on Monday night in a game overshadowed by a serious knee injury to Cleveland star running back Nick Chubb. The Steelers (1-1) beat the Browns (1-1) for the 20th straight time at home in the regular season when outside linebacker Alex Highsmith — who returned an interception for a touchdown on the game’s first snap — beat Cleveland left tackle Jedrick Wills Jr. off the edge and chopped the ball out of Watson’s hands.Watt picked it up and raced home as Pittsburgh extended its home winning streak on Monday night to 21 straight dating to 1991. PITTSBURGH (AP) — Cleveland Browns star running back Nick Chubb was carted off the field with a serious left knee injury in the second quarter of a 26-22 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers on Monday night.Steelers safety Minkah Fitzpatrick came in low for a tackle at the end of a 5-yard run early in the second quarter and delivered a hit to Chubb’s legs. Chubb’s knee buckled underneath him. After the play, a teammate grabbed Chubb’s hand to try to help him to his feet, and Chubb shook his head while clutching his left knee. He undid his chinstrap and rolled over onto his side.Chubb suffered a major injury to the same knee in 2015 while in college at Georgia — a dislocation with three torn ligaments. Like the previous injury, the one Monday night was difficult to watch, and ESPN declined to show replays of the play where he was hurt.Chubb remained on the ground for several minutes while teammates gathered in prayer nearby. He eventually left on a cart.NBA star and Ohio ...Mullins hits 3-run homer in 9th to lift Orioles to 8-7 win over Astros

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Texas manager Bruce Bochy felt the Rangers had everything set up nicely to go to Will Smith with a one-run lead in the eighth inning.Things went sideways in a hurry, especially after Smith promptly walked Boston’s No. 8 hitter and gave up a double to the ninth-place batter who didn’t have a hit in his previous 17 at-bats. Rob Refsnyder had a two-run single right after hot-hitting Rafael Devers was intentionally walked with one out and Adam Duvall followed with a sacrifice fly. The Red Sox snapped a four-game losing streak with a 4-2 win over the playoff-chasing Rangers, who lost their fourth in a row even after getting two All-Star players back in their lineup Monday night.“Our offense right now is sputtering a little bit and we’re living on a real fine line there,” Bochy said. “Smitty made a couple of mistakes. Looked like he had a chance to get out of it, had two strikes, and they got the big base hit. We just couldn’t separate the score earlier.”Smith (2-7...Today in History: September 19, Unabomber manifesto published in New York Times, Washington Post

NEW DELHI (AP) — Canada expelled a top Indian diplomat as it investigates what Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called credible allegations its government may have had links to the assassination in Canada of a Sikh activist, an accusation that India rejected as “absurd” on Tuesday.Trudeau said in Parliament on Monday that Canadian intelligence agencies have been looking into the allegations after Sikh leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar, a strong supporter of an independent Sikh homeland, was gunned down on June 18 outside a Sikh cultural center in Surrey, British Columbia.Nijjar was organizing an unofficial referendum in India for an independent Sikh state at the time of this death. Indian authorities announced a cash reward last year for information leading to Nijjar’s arrest, accusing him of involvement in an alleged attack on a Hindu priest in India. The Sikh independence, or Khalistan, movement is banned in India, where officials see it and affiliated groups as a national security threat. ...Canada expels diplomat amid allegations India involved in killing Canadian

SAN DIEGO -- The city council has now voted to shut down access to Point La Jolla and Boomer’s Beach after complaints from residents and activists prompted a new sea lion interaction crackdown. “People will be prevented from actually going on to the rocks at Point La Jolla, and for Boomer’s Beach, if your purpose is to actually get into the water for swimming, for paddleboarding… you’re still going to be allowed to get into the water,” said Joe LaCava, the city council member representing La Jolla. The year-round closure is the first of its kind and is being praised by sea lion activists. “The California Coastal Commission has already ready approved the coastal development permit closing this area year-round and keeping people safely along this wall,” said Carol Toye, a member of the Sierra Club and local sea lion volunteer.
